OCTOBER 2009
This first month has certainly flown by quickly. September always is full of planning and organizing and
settling into routines. We have managed well with our beginning this year. We appreciate everyone’s
patience and support as new classes begin.
It is great to have our School Council in place under the leadership of our Co-Chairs, Gabriele Nemeth and Danielle Wynne. Please note that even if you are not named on the Executive or on the Class Rep list, all parents are always welcome to come out and join our discussions at our meetings. Your input and presence are welcome.
As well, at nights and on weekends, we continue to have garbage such as beer bottles, liquor bottles, cigarette packages and debris left on our grounds. Also, we seem to have people on our rooftop. No Trespassing signs are installed to reinforce the privacy of the property. Anyone observing questionable behaviour on the schoolyard after hours is encouraged to contact the police.
As Fall arrives with its beautiful colour and its abundance of wonderful harvest food, we are thankful for all the gifts we experience. Thanks to Doris and Cliff Barkley for co-ordinating our September Fall Family Barbecue and also to the many parent volunteers who helped out with the activity. This is always a wonderful evening for the community to come together and celebrate the beginning of another school year. Thanks also for your generous support of our Book Fair organized by Mrs. Butson and volunteer parents and students.
We look forward to a wonderful second month and in partnership, we need to continue to set great examples and high standards for our students always mindful of the gospel values we are asked to follow. As we prepare to celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving with our friends and families, may we reflect on the following:The Lord is good and listens to our prayers. In this season of harvest, let us pray for those who need God's help, for people who try to love others as they love themselves, for people who have lost their loved ones, and for all who carry the love of God to others. At this time of Thanksgiving, may our gracious God, the giver of the harvest, bless
and protect us.
